nursery {for a baby girl}

well my daughter is 9 months old. time to post about her nursery before i move her into a big girl room.

when I did the nursery i did it on a shoestring budget. I tried to use things I already had. plus some paint. and a little fabric. the furniture was purchased at consignment sales or garage sales. or was free. the big project with the nursery were the yellow strips on the wall. a lot of work. worth it though in my opinion.

spring is coming {exclamation point, question mark}

i am hopeful. i can sense it. the longest, snowiest winter in omaha is almost complete. into the record books and soon we will be moving onto spring. i may have to wait a bit.

but soon.

in honor of that hope of spring, i made a change to my daughter's room.

before.

after.

the copy cat cottage: girl's nursery

this is my daughter's room. i love it. i enjoyed the whole process of decorating her room. so much in fact, i have ideas already for how i would decorate it differently!

this room was done on a pretty tight budget. i used branches for drapery rods, made my own art using scrapbook paper and my own name sign using canvas and crosstitching rings. i painted unfinished bird house from hobby lobby and painted cardboard hat boxes for storage.

one thing i have left to make is curtains and a ribbon garland to hang from the ceiling.

then it will be done.

the unconventional

as i've posted before, my daughter's room kind of has a nature theme to it: birds, sticks and butterflies.

so one day last week while looking at a corner in her room, i decided that she also needed a tree in that corner. hmmmm... how could i make a tree for cheap...

next morning i woke up and found a branch the perfect size on my deck. it had fallen during the night.

i know it is a bit unconventional for a nursery, but i love how it fills the space. i love how it continues the theme. i love how it was free. i am going to have to make some more of those birds now...
